rechecked with maverick and a 2.6.37 kernel: cross-fading is disabled still behaves like in the original bug description
** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: rhythmbox reproduce: put audio cd in drive open with rhythmbox start playing the cd now press the button to copy all tracks to library rhythmbox tries to do this as well as continue to play the cd, but this does not succeed well. the playback stutters while the drive audibly seeks back and forth between the playback position and the copy position. the rhythmbox window greys out (unresponsive). when clicking play again to stop playback nothing happens because of that. I clicked again and after 10 to 15 seconds the program stopped playback and proceeded with the copying just fine now. - solution: - refuse to do it simultanously if that cannot be done well + possible solutions: + a) refuse to do it simultanously if that cannot be done well + b) use caching; it's changing too frequently between playback and copy position; if it allowed the user to stop playback in a straightforward way it would only be half bad. with the unresponsiveness and greying out it begins to really look bad. impatient users will kill the window instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514715 Title: copy all tracks to library while playing back the same cd stutters, thrashes -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
