@Thomas Weiler This 8% is not everything, if I switch to the "Resources" tab I see CPU usage of about 15-20% on each core which is a lot considering I'm not running anything computionally complex. On my older laptop it was a lot more than this 15-20%, it reached 50-70% IIRC. Besides, it's not only a g-s-m process, Xorg also counts as it suffers from excessive calls from g-s-m. Each a few seconds/a minute there is also a peak: g-s-m to about 25%, Xorg to about 50%.
