fglrx needs POSIX shared memory to be enabled to work properly. Otherwise some "stuff" might happen. On my Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) it did not come enabled by default. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=122712 quick hint. Do it, check it, and reboot your machine, just to be sure. Test Quadrapassel and reply if it works.
