Chris, thanks a lot for marking this critical, finally someone who is understanding my frustration! I'm sure a lot of people are bugged by this but sadly it's not spoken out and this has been going on since the very beginning. (I submitted a bug report before but none cared to reply so i figured papercuts get more attention although even here it took a while)
I can confirm everything you said, my keyboard does not use FN for the volume buttons so it's a single stroke and i use it a lot. I do have a bunch of FN keys on the F buttons but never use those. Please push this so it gets fixed in Natty :) On Thu, Jan 13, 2011 at 5:41 PM, Chris Wilson <afrowi...@gmail.com> wrote: > I feel I should clarify that I have mentioned gaming in comment 10 and > comment 11 since these are the applications most likely to default to a > fullscreen mode, and where a windowed environment, where the user could > access the sound menu, could result in a negative impact on the user > experience. > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623922 > > Title: > Special keystrokes, including shortcuts and multimedia keys, cease to > function when certain applications and menus are open > > Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit: > Unknown > Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts: > Triaged > Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu: > New > > Bug description: > keyboard shortcuts not working when in a fullscreen app, by keyboard > shortcuts i mean the multimedia buttons like volume up/down and mute. > so when inside a game and you want to quickly turn down the volume > it's impossible. this also happens when you open up a menu, the keys > won't register. a fix is badly needed! > > To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/623922/+subscribe > -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623922 Title: Special keystrokes, including shortcuts and multimedia keys, cease to function when certain applications and menus are open -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
