I think this should be marked as a bug, since new user coming to Ubuntu would
like to use their IMAP mail with evolution. Many mail servers (including Gmail)
have their own folders for Trash and Junk, and when a user realizes that after
deleting a message, it doesn't really delete anything in the server, s/he would
get frustrated and stop using evolution at all.
This can be a big set back for newcomers, Evolution should work out of the box
with as many mail clients as possible, specially if some of this mail clients
are huge like Gmail.
This is also why people are usually switching to Thunderbird, even though the
default mail client is Evolution and frankly Evolution has better integration
with Ubuntu so we should try to make it better to use for everybody.
