Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel
Every time a new GNOME session starts (e.g. after a system restart), the arrangement of icons in the main panel is (a) Pseudo-random in order and (b) Sometimes broken, with buttons duplicated, overlapping, truncated or not displayed at all. I cannot trace this behavior to anything in particular. With no system changes, multiple GNOME sessions will yield multiple & different results for icon placement, with varying degrees of success. The following screenshots should illustrate the symptoms.
