I vote for making an exception to the final freeze and fix it before release. It might just be a "cosmetic" issue, but the "about ubuntu" application is also affected and will most likely be run by people that don't know much about Ubuntu and want to find out more. This bug really wouldn't make for a great first impression about Ubuntu as an operating system.
