Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
If I leave my Maverick test box on overnight, I find that nautilus has taken over so much memory by the morning that the machine is virtually unresponsive... here it has almost 1 Gig resident, and another 750 megs in swap space... PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 23275 james 20 0 1754m 945m 4528 D 0 47.5 71:05.13 nautilus My usage of Nautilus other than the basic operation of the desktop does include connecting to a SSH/SFTP server on the network, and occasionally moving some large files back and forth... but otherwise nothing unusual, and at the time the memory was leaked, I was not at the computer at all... (Although the network drive was still connected, so I don't know if this is related)... $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release: 10.10 $ apt-cache policy nautilus nautilus: Installed: 1:2.31.92-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:2.31.92-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:2.31.92-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: nautilus 1:2.31.92-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.32-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Sep 18 08:15:48 2010 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Beta amd64 (20100901.1) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus XsessionErrors: (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1707): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (bluetooth-applet:1719): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed (rhythmbox:23067): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_composite: assertion `dest_x >= 0 && dest_x + dest_width <= dest->width' failed ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- Nautilus leaks large amounts of memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
