Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince
Hello, evince is using a priority of 5 in /usr/lib/mime/packages/evince for mime-type image/*. This prevents other packages from using a more specific mime-type to override this. I normally use "display" from the ImageMagick package and I see no possibility to make the system use "display" by default for images as long as evince is catching everything with the "image/*" entry. >From the update-mime manpage: Mime types of the form "class/*" and even "*/*" are now acceptable (they were previously disal‐ lowed). When using "class/*", it is probably a good idea to add a "priority=[1-4]" option so spe‐ cific rules using the default priority will get chosen first. I would suggest using priority=1 for the entry as this places it at the bottom of the /etc/mailcap file.
