You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: indicator-applet
On my laptop if I press the battery indicator a menu shows up showing two items, one is the state of the battery (e.g., "Laptop battery 1 hour 10 minutes until charged") the other is simply "Preferences". Pressing either of them has no effect when the expected behavior would be to launch something like gnome-power-statistics and the power management settings for each item respectively.
