Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I set GDM up for automatic login. When I upgraded to Edgy, the upgrade
process failed and halted with a conflict in /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom,
where Dapper had stored the username to auto-login with. I was given the
choice of using the new file (and so breaking auto-login) and using the
old file (and so losing any possibly-important changes which might have
been made). Neither is ideal.

Changing configuration options through the GUI should not break
upgrading. Please find a way to make this work automagically.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
