Update on - "Unable to Expunge/Empty the Delete (Trash) Folder" 1) Archived my e-mails from Evolution vers. 2.28.1 2) Fresh install of Ubuntu 10.4 (LTS) I386 - (wiping completely Ubuntu 9.10 from the system) 3) Restored the old Archived e-mails to the new version of Evolution vers. 2.28.3 (which installs as part of Ubuntu 10.4)
Then for the next few weeks the problem still persisted as before. However I was noting that the number of Deleted Items slowly began reducing (i.e. 160 -> 120 -> 66 etc..), meaning that closing down Evolution was slowly clearing the backlog of Deleted Items. It's interesting that it was slowly clearing through a backlog, instead of clearing everything at once, as if the Deleted (Trash) Folder Database had a corruption that was slowly being cleared. I note that the Delete Icon is still greyed out when viewing the Deleted (Trash) Folder, so you still can't point and click to remove individual items. Maybe that is no longer a feature, as intuitively the Deleted (Trash) Folder is there to be scanned by the user to recover hastily deleted e-mails or to be Emptied like a Bin when you end the program or Expunge. On the other hand Expunge <Ctrl><E> now works and will Empty the Deleted (Trash) Folder. So it would appear that Evolution 2.28.3 now works as expected - whether you need to update the OS as well to 10.4 may be a necessity or a red herring!
