I couldn't get GDM accept XDMCP queries in Lucid. Workaround for me, using Xnest:
- install xdm, keep gdm as default (for the local folks) - change /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers: :1 local /usr/bin/Xnest :1 start xdm: HEED_DEFAULT_DISPLAY_MANAGER=false /etc/init.d/xdm start voila, an Xnest window with a large friendly login window from xdm. When logged in, I get the standard gnome desktop. to stop it: killall xdm Xnest -- No option to log in remotely via XDMCP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
