Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 very often the rename don't work, I right click
and select rename, enter the new name and press Enter and the "old" name
reappear, so I have to retry and the file name is changed, i.e. I have a
PDF-file on my Desktop 'pages.pdf', I select rename and enter 'Kvickly'
instead of 'pages', press Enter and pages.pdf reappear.
