Unfortunately, according to at least one commenter on ubuntuforums, the bug is also present in evolution 2.30, which means there's no quick fix way out of this one.
I second what Jesse Raleigh says above. Evolution (Ubuntu's centerpiece productivity app) crashes at least a dozen times a day on my work computer.
