Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

on ubuntu 10.4 with gnome-settings-daemon 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 0

g.s.d overrides any touchpad related settings made in xorg.conf of udev
or hal/fdi.

The configuration tool in gnome does not allow for flexible enough
settings regarding the synaptics touchpad, and also overrides all other
means i know of for making such settings. I have tried xorg.conf, hal
and udev, and all are ignored/overriden.

An option like "don't override the touchpad" for gnome-settings or
"user defined options" would help alot!

thanks,
mihai
