Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon
on ubuntu 10.4 with gnome-settings-daemon 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 0 g.s.d overrides any touchpad related settings made in xorg.conf of udev or hal/fdi. The configuration tool in gnome does not allow for flexible enough settings regarding the synaptics touchpad, and also overrides all other means i know of for making such settings. I have tried xorg.conf, hal and udev, and all are ignored/overriden. An option like "don't override the touchpad" for gnome-settings or "user defined options" would help alot! thanks, mihai ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gnome-settings-daemon 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: i386 Date: Mon May 31 15:16:38 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-settings-daemon ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- gnome-settings-daemon overrides touchpad setting made in xorg.conf, hal or udev https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
