GParted tells me that the filesystem of the iPod is 'FAT32'. However right-clicking on the desktop icon for the ipod, and selecting 'properties' says that the file system is 'msdos'. Also, under the 'permissions' tab, the dialog says "the permissions of <ipod name> could not be determined"
