My camera is Digital Camera Canon EOS 350D and I have configured Nautilus to open gThumb to import my photos. If I open my session with the following locale en_US.utf8 : When connecting the camera : - a "Canon Digital Camera" icon briefly appears on the desktop. - the "Import Photos" dialog of gThumb pops up and I can import my photos. If I open my session with the following locale fr_FR.utf8 (that is to say the one I use daily) : When connecting the camera : - a "Canon Digital Camera" icon appears on the desktop and stay here. - the "Import Photos" dialog of gThumb pops up with the following error message : "Une erreur est intervenue dans la bibliothèque d'entrée-sortie ('Impossible de verrouiller le périphérique'): L'appareille photo est déjà en service." which can be translated by "An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'): Camera is already in use.". In that case, in order to import the photo with gThumb, I must manually unmount the camera (by right clicking on the "Canon Digital Camera" icon on the desktop) and manually reselect my camera in the import dialog of gThumb. I tested this in a brand new install a Lucid Lynx with a fresh profile.
