This wasn't a bug to be fixed, this was an option that needed to be addressed. Nettiquette guidelines by a facist board with a fancy name be damned. I've got real users asking me how to PUT a blank line at the top and put the cursor there.
This is a matter of style, and style is a matter of personal preference and should not be dictated by consortium. A better program would allow for both styles to coexist, giving the user choice instead of trying to shoehorn a certain style onto them. Top posting is what seems natural to some people. Deal with it. Likely this bug--as you call it-- was put there by someone who was responding to the other camp. Taking it out fixes it for some, and breaks it for others. And the top posting option in prefs only deals with placement of the signature.
