You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Type in a shell "sudo shutdown -P +10".
During the time shutdown is running it is impossible to shutdown the
computer from the menu. If you try to logout you get the login prompt
and you can't login.
You need to wait until "shutdown -P +10" has finished running.
