Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm
There is a GDM bug that removes my ability to login and create a gnome session in the normal manner. I have to drop to console, stop gdm, and launch an X session using startx. Once this is done, using either ubuntu-bug or apport-cli results in the following when an attempt is made to launch the browser. GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.) Error showing url: Operation not supported Perhaps a fallback position could be used? If the gnome-session can't be used to interact with the browser, allowing for the completion of the bug report, perhaps start the browser directly?
