The share is password protected and the password is saved in the keychain. Apport said gvfsd-smb crashed on an assert but it (apport) doesn't support reporting that kind of crash so I'm attaching the report left in /var/crash. In /var/syslog I can't see anything about the failed assert, in .xsession-errors I find only this: checking for valid crashreport now gvfsd-smb ** (update-notifier:2242): DEBUG: fire up the crashreport tool I re-tried the mount and gvfsd-smb ended up burning 100% cpu which, I think, is bug #530605.
