Public bug reported: Login to Gnome from gdm to full desktop takes 5 minutes. This seems to be due to "auto lo" missing from /etc/network/interfaces.
I checked this behavior: 1. Without a network cable plugged in the login from completing the gdm login until full desktop is about 25s. Logout is also just a couple of seconds. 2. With network cable plugged and lo _not_ configured the login time is around 5 minutes! Logout is also some minutes. 3. With network cable plugged and lo configured the login time is again 25s. Logon again a couple of seconds. When I work with network-admin sometimes "auto lo" seems to be removed from /etc/network/interfaces causing the delay. ** Affects: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Needs Info -- [network-admin] Long delay in gnome login https://launchpad.net/bugs/23842 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
