Still a problem as of this posting. Really irritating to have a "ghost" bug crop up while doing remote edits - and then finding out GVFS's weird decision on apparent local permissions (all permissions being displayed incorrectly, and occasionaly the user being wrong too) force applications to reset thigns to the wrong settings.
