Seeing the same here on edgy, after removing a large vfat partition and
making a small ext3 partition (hda5) + a small vfat (hda7), using the
current debian-installer.

I get a garbage disk label, probably because it looks for a vfat label
on the ext3 partition. See /dev/hda5 in the attached lshal output.

$ sudo blkid|grep hda5
/dev/hda5: LABEL="etch" UUID="736af349-2720-4976-b181-43959ca05b03" 
SEC_TYPE="ext2" TYPE="ext3"
