Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Lucid, the Nautilus "file operations dialog" no longer shows an icon
in the notification area and instead shows an icon in the "indicator
applet".

The problem with that is that in Karmic when you clicked on the
notification area icon the dialog would hide itself and when you clicked
it again it would show. In Lucid clicking the indicator icon opens a
menu with a single item "show copy dialog" and clicking it always shows
the file operations dialog (including restoring it if its minimized).

The first regression is the need for two clicks and the second
regression is that clicking the menu again does not hide the dialog.

After testing I verified that one can close the dialog using the window
close button and then the operation continues and the dialog can be
shown using the indicator icon, but this use case is not very
discoverable: many users will hesitate to click on the close button as
in most circumstances closing a window that does something is equivalent
to stopping the operation.

Suggestions:
1. remove the menu from the indicator icon and use just a click on the icon to
show and hide the file operation dialog.
2. disable the file operations dialog's close button - clicking on it will not
do what users expect and it is just confusing.
3. add a real button in the file operations dialog labeled "Hide" (possibly
with a checkbox "always hide file operations") to hide the dialog in addition
to the undiscoverable actions of clicking on the indicator icon or closing the
window.
