This is _still_ a problem, going on half a decade.

PLEASE, Ubuntu FORK THIS! The GNOME dev has his head up his own @$$ and
will never make this work correctly. How it's possible for GNOME to
think this is the correct way for the screensaver app to work is beyond
me, but that's what they think. I run xscreensaver, but the session menu
won't lock the screen without gnome-screensaver. I would love to get a
working gnome-screensaver.
