This bug report is specifically for the Dell Inspiron 8600. If you have
this problem on another machine model, I would suggest you file a new
bug report. This goes for all the above with different machines, which
as fair as I can see is practically every commenter on this bug report
apart from the reporter. Hibernation/resume/suspend issues are highly
likely to be hardware dependent, and so each machine may have a slightly
different point of failure. If the issue is deemed to be related, then
it will be marked as a duplicate by another triager.

@Marek: Please test with a Live CD of Lucid as explained above, and
provide the required information by running the "apport-collect 298804"
command as above.
