Hello, I can confirm that on Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 with the kernel downloaded from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.2/ my SATA drive still refuses to work properly. The burnung fails just a few seconds after it has started. On Windows, it burns without any problems. I am attaching the Nero Linux burn log. I also would like to mention that my SATA controller is set to AHCI mode in BIOS. I would like to remain in AHCI, as I also have a SATA hard drive on the same SATA controller and I would really like to use AHCI features like S.M.A.R.T. and so on which, as far as I know, are not available when I set the SATA controller to so-called "IDE" mode.
As in Windows it burns flawlessly, I assume that the problem is the current linux kernel which does not support burning on SATA drives in AHCI mode. ** Attachment added: "Nero Linux burn log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38552310/Log.txt -- Unable to burn CD or DVD with 2.6.31 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405544 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
