Since I don't use Ubuntu anymore (I switched back to Windows), I ran the test from a USB stick using the most up-to-date version of Ubuntu UNR. However, when I created the same environment in which my battery meter seemed to fail the last-time I had Ubuntu installed, it seemed to be working OK and the battery meter told me that I had unplugged my power- cable
