As above I get the same errors as everyone else there is a problem with the configuration server /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanitycheck-2 exites with status 256 and Something about .ICEauthority
I was able to turn off the auto login by editing /etc/gdm/custom.conf file but I still get the same problem: Desktop background with nothing else. I can get into an X-session by stopping gdm and running startx as root, but this only seems like a temporary solution and I don't have all functionality when I do this. -- There is a problem with the configuration server.
