You have been subscribed to a public bug: To disable the password box after suspend-to-ram or suspend-to-disk, it was possible to edit, using gconf-editor, the fields /apps/gnome-power- manager/lock/{suspend,hibernate}, but it does not work anymore in karmic (it still asks the password).
