Hey friend (snircher), I also have a PIONEER CD/DVD/RW drive and I am having similar problems. In fact, on mine Rhythmbox, Sound-juicer, and Nautilus, all crash with a seg fault upon insertion of an audio CD.
My drive is an IDE / PATA but it is an PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-118L 1.02 I do not know what it different about the PIONEER drives but it sure seems clear that this is the number one contributing factor in our problems. I hope the gdb-output I supplied helps the developers fix this.
