I have a fresh install of Karmic that I have been using since it came out. I keep losing the weather applet (or parts of it) after reboot or occasionally during a session. Panel applets in the notification area (network & speaker) occasionally double up (2 of them with 1 functional).A reboot will usually fix everything except the weather applet.I have looked over all the posts and tried everything I can think of including removing and replacing the gnome-panel and the applet- addons via the SPM. Very annoying along with the other problems that I have tackled and repaired. DELL Insipron 531, 3 gig ram , AMD 64 X2 Nvidia Vidio running the 64 bit version of Karmic.I am a new user to Linux and love the flexibility the Ubuntu desktop but am very frustrated with the instability of the system.
