You have been subscribed to a public bug: Fresh i386 install on virtualbox. Running update manager results in the several packages not found under the url
http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/e/eglibc/ I then went to update using sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade I was required to download and install 20Mb. After the upgrade I had 2 icons of the same program under Applications and System. I have not reset the machine to see if they would go away after a reboot, but to a new user this would be confusing. Since so many packages were updated and installed I have no idea where to start on trying to find what would cause this issue. I will provide logs if asked. Fresh install was on December 13 and upgrade was on December 19.
