Right, but the original code the gudev-using version replaces doesn't seem to have any hal dependencies. It's hard coded to just check "/dev/video" and "/dev/v4l2/video" and doesn't seem to use the hal enumerate device functions. But perhaps I'm missing the larger picture. So for the larger HALsectomy question the only dependency left in gst- plugins-good is for the two elements.
