Just wanted to add that this also happened to me. At first, I tried to just install ubuntu-restricted-extras, but that didn't work. I had to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly to get it working properly.
I tried to add multiple (10) mp3's at once, each causing the same error, which stated, "not suitable for audio or video media".
