I second that last comment: not being able to configure an automatic screen 
lock after a given time of inactivity is obviously a security issue at least in 
certain environments.
Personally I am getting this bug in Xubuntu 9.10, upgraded from 9.04. The 
screen saver can be started manually (either by command line or by the lock 
screen button/shutdown menu) but does not start automatically. On this 
particular computer, I originally installed 6.06 and upgraded to every new 
release; this is the first time I see this bug happening.
