Public bug reported: Yes, this program has improved since Breezy by adding in [paraphrased:] "Remember to add at least 2GB for the root "/" partition and 256MB for the swap" in the "manually edit partition table" section but it still didn't help my installation progress.
I took 5GB for the ext3 file system and 1GB for the linux-swap from my FAT32 data partition but Ubuntu couldn't install because the swap was placed before the ext3 file system. Once that was swtiched, booting into Windows did not work because the partition editor did something to the beginning of the partition and I was only able to return to Windows after formatting Ubuntu, and using BootIt NG 1.75b to fix the problem on the Windows partition. ** Affects: gparted (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome Partition Editor still convoluted https://launchpad.net/bugs/53822 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
