This bug is affecting me also in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, And its really annoying... Looks like it enter in an eternal loop, and keep loading resouces, becouse it dosent stop processing and the memory use never stop growing... The last time I closed it, it was using 500mb+ of ram. I had loaded the same librarys thousends of times.
Killing it sometimes resolves, but came I time that just restart resolves, cuz gnome-panel stop starting up too...
