Jan, as I tried to point out in comment 26, if Nautilus is *not* in file browser mode, the "option 1" you reference is not available. See attached screenshot. Given the window in that screenshot, I can *only* drag a file to a subfolder of 'mp3', but not to 'mp3' itself. :(
