Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-utils
After upgrading Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit to 9.10 32 bit the log file viewer exhibits an error in looking for log files that have been renamed. Upon running Log File Viewer, the application becomes unresponsive for several minutes while displaying the error message: /var/log/syslog.0: Error stating file '/var/log/syslog.0': No such file or directory /var/log/auth.log.0: Error stating file '/var/log/auth.log.0': No such file or directory After a few minutes, the application starts to respond and displays the logs in the messages area. Upon checking the /var/log directory, syslog.0 and auth.log.0 do not exist. They have been replaced by syslog and auth.log ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Oct 29 09:10:34 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-system-log NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: gnome-utils 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: gnome-utils Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- system log viewer looking for wrong files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
