The number of comments and scenarios described there, using ro mounting, no usplash, changing gdm config, etc makes it challenging to try to understand in which case the bug happens exactly. You get the issue in a stock installation? Do you get the login screen correctly displayed after installation? Do you get the issue only when starting GNOME? Could you the dmesg and syslog logs to the bug?
