Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

At time of install of beta ubuntu9.10amd64 I ran into an issue when choosing
the install side by side option on the partitioning part of the install what it
does is not create any extra space when plenty is available
500gb drive
33gb used for 9.04
180mb other used
so that leaves a minimum of 450gb that could be used
during install it only gave the partition 2.5gb which left about 80mb after
install
I used gparted to increase the size and it did not work after gparted did not
recognize grub
said unrecognised file system grub restore prompt
no cd in
install cd go to command and try to repair the grub to no avail
says I have no auth on Filesystem
when filesystem load from places if passwords entered then it doesn't work only
if it is left blank does it work
so I restart install and from partition choose manual delete drive and swap and
seems to install correct
start shutdown work but notice that flash does not go full screen after mod
using
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash
reload to 9.04 to watch movie and seems to work fine
restart load 9.10 and go to UPDATE Manager and get prompted to upgrade so I
follow prompts screenshots enclosed
trys to update kernel to 2.28.12 and has an fsck issue on reload
fsck done fine 0.05% but during restart notice that error still seems active
Also notice that many programs error on termination with prompt to send error
report
even firefox slightly froze during the course of me writing this bug report
I know that this is still beta or alpha but there are a lot of tweaks that I
see need to happen

I do like the newer interface and seems to be fine until the upgrade and the
option on install seems to not create a partition large enough
I have had to load the 2.28.11 in order to run this time but it did start in
the maintainence prompt
also a short list of programs that did not shutdown correctly
Rythbox
Movie Player
Sound Recorder
Firefox

As I am not certain what to file this bug under I put it in undefined but the
whole thing makes The NEW Ubuntu look pretty unstable
and the upgrade was 300+ packages so I wouldn't know where to start
