ubuntu/karmic is used *only* for bugs that the release team has determined need to be fixed in karmic; it does not mean that the bug was found in karmic. Please don't attempt to file bugs there.
This bug has so far been assigned to livecd-rootfs, ubiquity, and usplash. I don't think it's any of these. It's certainly not livecd- rootfs because that's just responsible for building the live filesystem and is not usually responsible for bugs in the packages that filesystem contains; there's no indication that the user here was trying to boot the installer rather than just the live system, and so it's unlikely to be ubiquity's fault; and usplash's job is done before the login window is displayed. I'm going to experimentally throw this over to gdm. It would be useful if you could confirm whether this still happens in the recently-released beta; alpha 6 was immediately after a major boot sequence rearrangement and was a bit rough in places. ** Package changed: usplash (Ubuntu) => gdm (Ubuntu) -- karmic-desktop-amd64.iso (beta6) fails to boot into login window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439771 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
