Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
I use Synergy (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) to share a mouse and keyboard connected to my Ubuntu desktop PC with a MacBook Pro. If the cursor/keyboard are in the control of the MacBook Pro (e.g. I'm working in an application on the Mac) and I left Evolution in focus before moving the mouse cursor over to the Mac, Evolution crashes when a new message arrives in my inbox. This does not occur if the message is filtered on the server side into a folder other than my inbox--only when a message hits the inbox itself. Some cases: 1.) If I click on Evolution to bring it into focus and then move my mouse pointer to the MacBook and send myself an email using the Mac, Evolution crashes when the message arrives in my inbox. I am able to reproduce the crash 100% of the time in this scenario. 2.) If I have Evolution running but click on a web browser to bring it into focus before moving my cursor to the Mac, then send myself an email using the Mac, Evolution does NOT crash. 3.) If I have Evolution running and in focus, move the cursor to the Mac and send myself an email, but move the cursor back to the desktop machine, Evolution does NOT crash when the message arrives in my inbox. If I had to guess I might theorize that it has something to do with the new message notification displayed in GNOME when a new message arrives in the inbox (since those notifications don't appear when a message arrives in a subfolder due to being filtered on the server side, and no crash is observed in those circumstances either). I should also note that I haven't observed this crash in previous Ubuntu releases....only in 9.04. For what it's worth I have three IMAP accounts (including the primary account) configured, one NNTP account, and two web calendars.
