You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is an up-to-date karmin x86 32 bit system. Pidgin does not start, it consumes all idle CPU but pidgin window (or it's notification area icon) is not shown even after minutes. Some output from pidgin though:
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file: /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstlibvisual.so Please either: - remove it and restart. - run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug. Pidgin does not recoginize the --gst-disable-segtrap option, so I have no idea how to test that ... Removing /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstlibvisual.so seems to help though (pidgin starts normally). pidgin: Installed: 1:2.6.2-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:2.6.2-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:2.6.2-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:2.6.1-1ubuntu0~pidgin1.9.10 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net karmic/main Packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-base: Installed: 0.10.24-2 Candidate: 0.10.24-2 Version table: *** 0.10.24-2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: gst-plugins-base0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pidgin does not start, problem with /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstlibvisual.so https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/429231 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-base0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
