I've just been linked to a fedora buglisting... https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506220 suggesting glib is the culprit. Further searches on glib found this... https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+question/77380 so I'm going to try the update mentioned there (a patched glib2) and report back.
