Michael, why do you think it's so hard for users to find their downloads in the most obvious place for downloads.... ~/Downloads?
On Windows Vista, IE/Firefox saves downloads to c:\Users\username\Downloads. There's no link to the Download folder on the Windows desktop, yet Windows users can somehow get by. Now if we assume Ubuntu users are just as smart as Windows users, shouldn't they be able to figure it out?
