On my system - Thinkpad T61 everything worked fine until the GNOME
update yesterday (that was also supposed to solve Bug #389857) after
which closing the laptop lid never suspends the system. Using the
"suspend command" works perfectly.

Additionally when I open "Power Management Preferences" I see that the
behavior for "when laptop lid is closed" is set to "Shutdown" for both
"on AC" and "on battery", and I can't change it - if I change it and
press close, when I open the preferences dialog again it is still set to
"shutdown".

I'm not sure if this is the same bug.
